This bow manifests a stunning focus across all four strings. The higher register is shimmery and syrupy, the lower register vibrant and exceptionally clear. This bow shines in Bach - its crisp resonance serves string crossings well. It feels very agile and alive in the hand. In more intense passages, it maintains its focus whilst adding depth and richness to the sound.
Silver fitted, Mastodon Ivory tip. Arcos Brasil Special Edition Silver cello bows are completely hand made, including the frogs, by a master bow maker. Makers of Special Edition cello bows have had the privilege to apprentice under the guidance of Mr. Pierre Guillaume at his atelier in Brussels. The finest choice of pernambuco wood is used on these cello bows. The frogs have a distinct style and are individually made from high quality ebony, fitted with sterling silver and beautiful abalone details.
Windings - The decision by the bow maker to use one material over another on the winding depends on where the balance point is, and what material will best benefit the balance of the bow. Windings typically used are silver tinsel, whalebone, or silver. The frog and button metal will be silver.
Silver bows also use a higher grade of stick material, whether that be wood or carbon, and are considered a better bow not just because of the fittings, but because of the stick.
